We’re looking for the ideal part-time Field Fellow to help us in these efforts starting right away and through the mid-term elections.

Field Fellow job description:
In effect from July 1, 2026-Dec. 15, 2026
Help devise strategy for contacting and directly communicating with all voters of color in Transylvania County under the guidance of the Transylvania NAACP Political Action/Faith in Action Joint Committee beginning on or as close to June 15, 2026 as possible and ending on or before Dec. 15, 2026 for approximately 15 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30 an hour. This will include, but is not limited to:
Organizing and Coordinating (working with PAC/FIA)
- Door-to-door canvassing (organized weekly or more often with volunteer NAACP members), including pulling walk lists, training volunteers to go out and knock on doors in pairs, distributing educational material and reporting on their findings
- Phone banking (language appropriate)
- Ongoing voter registration efforts at Moral Mondays and other community events, including Juneteenth
- Community listening sessions monthly
- Recruit and organize volunteer vote protectors during all hours of early voting and at all polling places on Election Day.
- Assist withcandidate forums
- Engage and enroll volunteers, especially young volunteers of color
- Coordinate and divide tasks with additional Field Fellows as they come on board
Canvassing
- Oversee weekly canvassing in communities of color
- Be present and oversee other activities
Reporting Regularly
- Regular coordination with Political Action and Faith in Action leadership as needed/requested.
- Report weekly to President Tommy Kilgore, more often if need arises`.
- Submission of monthly report to Political Action/Faith in Action chairs by 3 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, more often if so requested.
Participation
- Attendance at all Political Action/Faith in Action meetings and all NAACP ExComm meetings and other meeting as needs arise.
